Enrico Bonamano - Private Tour Guide in Venice

I have resumed travelling after the Covid scourge has somewhat lessened although I fear another world wide lockdown in the coming months. I traveled extensively and hired many professionally trained tour guides all over the world. I will not hesitate to say that Enrico Bonamano is the finest guide I have ever encountered. His enthusiasm is contagious and his extreme love for his birthplace and lifelong residence of Venice, becomes obvious within minutes of beginning his tour. His research is impeccable and he weaves many of his city's ancient legends but he presents both the good and not so good facts of his city's history. I would highly, in fact, demands that if you are visiting Venice, that you use him as your tour guide and I promise, you will not be disappointed for a second. I did two tours while in Venice with Enrico and a friend had highly recommended him when she did a tour around Dorsoduro where he spent his formative years so he did that tour with me as well as the Jewish ghetto and surrounding areas. His knowledge of Renaissance art is mind boggling.

Dopo varie visite tradizionali abbiamo avuto l'idea di provare un tour guidato alla scoperta della cose di Venezia che non sono note... e per fare questo, dietro consiglio di una cara amica, abbiamo contattato Enrico, Veneziano doc. Mai idea e scelta sono state così azzeccate. Enrico ci ha portato dove volevamo, con i nostri tempi e la sua super disponibilità e competenza. Abbiamo così passato un pomeriggio fantastico, fuori dal caos e, soprattutto, dentro alla Venezia nascosta ed alla venezia dei Veneziani. Da ripetere... Venezia infatti a più Sestrieri e non basta un solo tour. Enrico poi è stato in grado di suggerici e consihliarci, senza mai essere per questo invadente". We were in Venice in late June 2021 when Italy removed the quarantine for Canadians. We hired Enrico to be our tour guide for Venice. He was very articulate. I have had the pleasure of touring Venice with Enrico on more than one occasion. The first time he sent me and my friend off to find a beautiful Byzantine church near the hotel where we were staying. It was truly impressive!On another occasion I asked Enrico to help me find a carpet store. He did his research and found one near La Fenice. We passed by many of my favourite areas of the city on our way and I learned all about raised campos. The carpet shopping was successful!On the next trip two other friends were with me. I asked Enrico to take us on a tour of the Dorsoduro, his home sestiere. It was truly special. Among many one highlight for me was listening to his stories of growing up in the area. Another was seeing one of my favourite paintings in the Frari church, Bellini’s Pesaro Madonna. It had been out for restoration for many years and I was thrilled to see it again.Enrico’s love and enthusiasm for his city are boundless.
