Hotel L' Antico Pozzo a San Gimignano

Una piacevole nottata in centro a San Gimignano. Stanza molto ampia, climatizzata e ordinata. Bagno luminoso e con vasca da bagno che ho ovviamente fatto e mi è piaciuta moltissimo. Il cortile dove abbiamo fatto colazione si presenta molto gradevole. Colazione fornita anche per il mio ragazzo celiaco. Tutto perfetto.

I am writing this review based on a short but disappointing interaction I had with the hotel staff. I did not stay at the hotel, but asked for help when my 2 month old baby was fussy as she was getting hungry earlier than expected on a hot day. I asked the hotel staff if I could shortly breastfeed my 2 month old, as I failed to find a calm corner in the town and the baby wouldn’t wait. All that I needed was a chair to sit on in a calm place and as I opened the hotel door I saw all empty chairs in an empty hotel lobby. Hence, I hoped that the hotel staff would make an exception based on kindness and understanding, however that was not the case.The staff told me about the public changing room/toilets (and not in a friendly manner) and almost closed the door on my face. I never asked for or wanted to change the baby’s diaper in their hotel. As mentioned, I only needed a chair to breastfeed for max 10 minutes.My husband wrote a review about this incident a couple days ago and hotel replied with incorrect info and hence I wanted to leave another review with the actual facts.If the hotel staff wasn’t so unfriendly, we wouldn’t have bothered with this review.

L'Antico Pozzo is a wonderful hotel. The location is wonderfully idyllic, perfectly located just inside one of the main gates of the town. It feels like you stepped into another era, and definitely added to the out-of-time feeling of San Gimignano. The room was perfectly adequate, but the best thing about the hotel was the lovely staff: everyone was so warm, kind, friendly, and absolutely helpful about discovering the hidden gems of San Gimignano and the Tuscany surroundings. The pastries at breakfast were delicious. And on top of everything else, it was perfectly affordable for travelers like ourselves. A great hotel - thank you!

Un week end di totale relax in un hotel accogliente, pulitissimo, centrale ma silenzioso. Ho apprezzato particolarmente la colazione, servita in una sala meravigliosa e con un sottofondo musicale davvero piacevolissimo ed elegante. Grande disponibilità con il deposito bagagli. La camera non ampia, ma pulita e funzionale. Forse l'unica piccola pecca è la mancanza del bidet nel bagno.

Perfect location. Helpful staff - happy to store our luggage when we arrived before checkin. Very good instructions from the hotel on parking etc (which is key for San gimigiano). Very good breakfast (included). Bigger than expected room with a modern bathroom. Wouldn't change a thing.

Hotel and location were really great, however we stayed there during a heatwave and the aircon and fridge in the room did not work sufficiently. The rest of the stay was perfect. The hotel is beautiful with perfect location and the beds comfortable and bathrooms clean and modern. Very recommendable.

Passeggiando in via San Matteo, piena di negozi, odori, colori, e troppi turisti, si giunge all ingresso di questo storico albergo, si entra, ed il tempo si ferma.Sarà perché un antico pozzo, ben conservato ed ancora con la sua riserva d acqua, accoglie gli ospiti con la sua bellezza, sarà l'incontro con l'ospitalità elegante, sobria, preparata e simpatica dei titolari alla reception, saranno gli ambienti, puliti e storicamente ben conservati, sarà la ricca colazione, la corte fiorita, chi lo sa.Se si viene a visitare seriamente San Gimignano, la storia unita al relax, la troviamo all'Antico Pozzo.

This is a charming little hotel right in the centre of the town. It could not be better positioned for easy access to both the nearest car park and the main square. Rooms are comfortable and blissfully dark and cool, with air conditioning as well. Staff are friendly and helpful - the lady who served breakfast was particularly charming. Breakfast was generous and tasty and they have a lovely little first floor terrace you can eat on or take a drink up there.

Hotel fantastico. Personale cordiale e molto professionale ti consiglia su luoghi da visitare e ristoranti. Camere spaziose e pulite. La nostra affacciava sulla via principale fantastico. Colazione varia e di qualita'. Posizione fantastica in centro comodi a tutto. Consiglio di visitare l'antico pozzo, molto suggestivo. Il parcheggio non e' vicinissimo ma ugualmente comodo. Ci torneremo appena possibile.
