I recently attended a Yoga retreat at Montemelino, the sister property, also run by Lucia and John and it was FANTASTIC. We were treated like family. I have not been so relaxed in years. The food was amazing, straight from the local farms, cooked beautifully by the staff that we got to know dearly. We were taken on tours of local towns, including a lovely picnic one day. The views from the grounds we stayed were gorgeous. Sabina gave us a lovely tour of the vineyards and wine tasting on our last night, including a beautiful dinner. The apartments are so lovely. I highly recommend staying here to get a feel for true Italian living.

You'll think you're traveling to Dogana to see Italy, but what you realize is that after visiting you'll leave Dogana having made an Italian family. Every person hosting makes you feel at home. The location is perfect for exploring Tuscany on day trips. The rooms are 5-stars because they are exactly as advertised - clean and simple - not because of luxury. But the magical feeling of living at Dogana while you're there is priceless.

I came here last week for my cousin's wedding. It was a perfect choice for the venue! The staff were friendly, the accommodation was comfortable, the facilities, such as the swimming pool, were enjoyable, and this place had a great view, especially of Lake Trasimeno. I'd definitely recommend this venue!!

This being my first time in Italy and especially to it's countryside, I found my 7 days at Dogana AMAZING. It's a charming resort that makes you feel like you could live there. The food was delicious and the pool location couldn't be better as it overlooks Lake Trasimeno.But it's the family friendly service that tips the hat. Lucia and her staff made us feel like we were home. I'd return again and again.

Abbiamo soggiornato alla Dogana ad Agosto ed è un vero piccolo gioiello. Gli appartamenti sono funzionali e dotati di tutto, immersi nel verde. La struttura offre la piscina, con una meravigliosa vista sul lago Trasimeno e ha diversi spazi in comune, pensati anche per i bambini. Il silenzio del posto è ottimo per chi desidera staccare e regalarsi qualche giorno di riposo, la posizione dell’ agriturismo permette di potersi spostare e visitare comodamente sia Umbria che Toscana.L’atmosfera alla Dogana è stata subito quella di un ambiente accogliente e familiare, sembrava di essere circondati da amici, sia con Lucia (la proprietaria) che il suo staff sembrava di conoscersi da tempo. La colazione con vista lago, con frutta fresca, dolci ogni giorno, marmellate e anche una selezione di salato, faceva cominciare la giornata con spirito diverso. Non siamo riusciti a provare il Bistrot, attivo nel weekend, ma abbiamo avuto occasione di provare la cucina in una cena organizzata per gli ospiti, ed era ottima. A fare davvero la differenza è sicuramente Lucia: gentile, disponibile, alla mano, traspare subito la passione e l’impegno che mette in quello che fa e soprattutto nel far sentire a proprio agio i clienti. Un’onestà, una trasparenza e simpatia che ho trovato in poche persone, ci siamo trovati benissimo sin da subito con lei.Suggeriamo di leggere la guida che lei stessa cura sul suo sito, completa di posti e di esperienze da provare, è una chicca e vi fa scoprire posti fantastici.Ci abbiamo lasciato un pezzetto di cuore, speriamo di tornarci quanto prima.

I photographed Jodie & Matt’s wedding here last year and it’s an incredible place. Lucia is just an absolute diamond and Will do everything possible to make your day perfect. I’d highly recommend it for a beautiful Tuscan wedding!

It is a lovely location, centrally located on the Tuscany/Umbria border. The staff are very attentive and pleasant to interact with. Lastly, the estate itself has a fascinating history, about which it is interesting to learn.

This retreat and Lucia exceeded what I even thought was possible. I dreamed of a beautiful Tuscan experience and Lucia made every wish come true and more. It’s impossible to put into words how stunning this experience was for me and our group. The kindness of every person we interacted with, the fresh food + wine, the venue itself! There’s nothing to consider when deciding to book here because Lucia already did - and trust me, it’s perfect. Best of everything, Dogana team, I hope to visit again!

Our group enjoyed a unique week at Montemolino. It took us away from the ordinary tourist attractions and closer to the real life in Italy . The food we were served twice daily was outstanding. Our excursions were enjoyed by all. And the wine flowed freely !
