Hotel Basilea

Absolute worst experience/stay of my entire life. I travel very often with many friends and colleagues. A big group of us were in Venice at the same time (all at different locations). We wanted to stay in this region specifically. I have stayed hundreds of hotels and Airbnb and have never given below a 8 star rating. This place was filthy and disgusting. On top of that they were very cheap. The room was not cheap. I could have paid a few euros more to stay at a better location but was in a hurry to book something quick and never imagined this place to be so horrible. They have higher ratings on a third party website but it’s clear here on google reviews are more accurate. They also do not allow you to change temperature our room was always at 25.6 degrees Celsius (almost 26 degrees) and they blame it on some “energy saving law” which is untrue by the way because all my colleagues and friends staying at different places had their rooms at 16-17 degrees everyday because it’s august in Italy, we were literally sweating and having heat flashes which by the way I’m anemic and never even have to use the air conditioning so this is strange for me. We could not sleep at all. Also they are useless/no help. I’m physically disabled and have never been turned away for help. I asked for help carrying my luggage since I’m physically incapable of doing so and they don’t have elevators and they said no problem but when it came to actually helping they did not. In fact they just stood there and watched me struggle because they did not want to help. In my country this is illegal and would call for a lawsuit/shut down. Room is filthy and stains everywhere. No shampoo/body wash in the room. We also have many bites on our bodies that appear to look like bed bug bites. Would’ve rather paid 100 euro more per night to stay elsewhere. We requested to leave as soon as we got there and they refused. We would’ve paid 3 times as much to stay elsewhere instead. They literally trapped us. This place is a scam!! Save yourself the time and trouble, many other better places in the area. Do NOT go here.

It's an exaggeration. There is no air-conditioning, and you can't change the room. The room is very smelly, and you can't change the room. The service quality is very poor. Is there any room without air-conditioning in this era? How can you sleep in such a hot weather? It's incredible. I urge everyone not to come here

Personale gentilissimo e prodigo di consigli. Situato in posizione tranquilla ma vicino a tutto quello che si deve visitare. Camera posta in invidiabile posizione sul canale. Non ho fruito del servizio colazione. Unica pecca: per avere acqua calda nella vasca occorre lasciare aperto il rubinetto per qualche minuto.

The rooms are a bit old and it is easy to hear the ppl from the other rooms but otherwise it is a really nice little hotel. Very clean, friendly staff, was more than enough for us. Would come again

Nice old fashioned hotel with very friendly and helpful staff and its own special atmosphere.

We had an awful experience at this hotel. The room was advertised as having air condionting, but the unit in our room was broken. They refused to change our room, despite many other rooms being available at the time. Having to complain about it every single day really frustrated me and put a downer on the whole trip. Apart being hot, the room was noisy and full of mosquitos. I strongly encourage you to avoid this hotel.

The location of the hotel is great, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always available for questions. The rooms are very clean and cosy, with a typical Venetian atmosphere. It was a very pleasant stay!

First of all - amazing hospitality, very professional and kind service. Room was clean and well-kept. Location is really good as you are close to station and all historical location. There is a shop in front of hotel, good restaurants and cafes. I am very happy with my decision to stay there. Really recommend. :)

Hotel was very nice and clean, great location with canal view. Staff was always attentive with a smile. Only issue we had was the pillows being too flat. I asked for more pillows and the staff gave me a brand new one.
