Thrifty - venice airport

Worst service ever received. Arranged the hire of the vehicle months in advance. When arrived they made us wait a hour, then lied about the whereabouts of the vehicle, gave us another vehicle that was dirty. The tank was a quarter from full. Absolutely useless.

Taiyab provided the great service and made everything easy with professional manners and nice way. Thank you

Vous rassure en vous disant qu'il n'est pas nécessaire de faire le tour du véhicule à la restitution et facture 150e pour une micro rayure qu'on ne peut distinguer sur la photo envoyée. Accessoirement aussi j'avais oublié un casque audio onéreux et celui-ci par contre ils ne l'ont pas trouvé...Mon conseil : prendre la voiture sous tous les angles avant de partir ou surtout PRENDRE UNE AUTRE AGENCE DE LOCATION !

We had a terrible experience with Thrifty. We rented a 'large car', bearing in mind we had traveled to the airport in a Peugeot 308 with two medium suitcases and 2 rucksacks, we thought that a 'large car' on the other side would accommodate us, especially as we had searched dimensions of large luggage online and would appear that ours would fall well under the 'large' category. The website also said that the 'large car' would accommodate 2 large bags and one small bag as well as 5 adults. When we arrived, we were able to fit everything into the boot of the car but could not close the boot. When we said that we couldn't get everything into the car and explained to them how we had arrived at the thinking that we should be able to fit, they told us we would have to upgrade the car. It was 40 degree heat, we three small children and we had already been negotiating for over an hour. Worried about the children we agreed to upgrade, however, it cost us over £1000. When we complained we were told that because we had requested the upgrade they were unwilling to refund the difference. We are now taking our complaint to the Ombudsman.

One of the worst experiences of renting a car in Europe. The person at the counter was unaware of the regulations that led me to waste both time and money.I had booked a 3 day rental with Thrifty, however the person at the counter did not accept my license. I have two valid licenses - India & UAE, either of which work everywhere in EU.The person at the counter had no idea about the regulations, despite my requesting him to check on that. He didn't even bother to check with their central office or another colleague and confidently denied the usage mentioning that the car would be confiscated if Police did a check.All the other rental car companies at the same Venice airport were willing to rent the car. I confirmed with three major ones - Sixt, Europcar and Avis. I rented through Avis, since it was a last minute my rental cost over 2x of the original booking that had been done in advance with Thrifty. It wasted 1-2 hours of time, and spoiled that day of our holiday.Interestingly, we were stopped by the Italian police for a routine check on the highway, they checked the license and rental agreement and were completely fine with it.Basically the person at the counter didn't know how to do his job or if he was following Thrifty policy then the company doesn't understand the countries local policies and license agreements.Either way, completely avoidable. Pay a bit extra and opt for one of the better rental companies.

Structural fraud, check other reviews!!!! They charged €60 extra for insurance that I explicitly refused (I followed written instruction of CHECK24) and I didn't sign for. CHECK24 checked and confirmed the evidence I sent and tried getting the money back for me, but HERTZ THRIFTY won't even respond to CHECK24.
