I was introduced to the magic of Pipoli red wine by an Italian sommelier living and working in London (Bottle Apostle, Victoria Park.)I was so enthralled by the mineral and floral balance of the wine that I made it my goal, on my next trip to Italy, to visit the winemaker.I arrived midday on a Sunday praying that the Fantini store would be open. As chance would have it, it was closed.But luck was on my side, as a mindful local I got chatting to drove his car to fetch the winemaker (father and son).Happily I have now discovered the award winning rosé and bianco of the same label.I felt privileged and blessed driving away from Monte Vulture with my wine boxes and having tied new acquaintances with such lovely people from the Lucano region.Grazie mille!
