Our Italian cooking experience with Carmelita was so incredible and authentic and we love recreating these recipes now that we are home in Australia.Carmelita was a wonderful teacher and a great laugh. My husband and I cherish the day we spent with her. Our only regret is that we did not choose to do the market shopping with her in the morning.Carmelita is amazing and the food was some of the best we had in Italy, we were astounded that we had such a hand in making it. Recreating it back home was very tasty but nothing beats our first bites in Italy. We will have to book in again on our next trip to Italy! Thank you so much Carmelita we loved every dish!!!!

A market visit and cooking class were exactly what we were looking for. Carmelita combined some morning touring and shopping with a great session of cooking in her apartment kitchen. She shared some really nice recipes as well as some professional cooking techniques, which resulted in a filling and tasty afternoon meal. She was very personable and easy to understand.The morning and afternoon spent with Carmelita learning about Bologna, its food, and how to prepare some of the local cuisine was well worth the time and the cost. It was a very enjoyable experience!

We had a wonderful day with Carmelita going shopping and learning to cook bolognese food in her lovely home kitchen. She showed us around the center and gave great recommendations for food and drink - stopping to sample local wine and mortadella. The meal we cooked was simple yet delicious, and filled with techniques to bring home with us. Carmelita gave us a ton of recommendations for our remaining days in Bologna based on what we wanted to do which was really helpful! The experience of taking her class felt like meeting a new friend! We definitely recommend Carmelita’s tours to anyone visiting Bologna.

Our family very much enjoyed our day cooking, eating, and learning about Bolognese cuisine with Carmelita. The market visit was unlike any I've done before. Not just a shopping trip but a real history lesson.

A full day market to table class with Carmelita was a wonderful gastronomic experience. After coffee in a local bar, we had a guided tour of a food shopping area of Bologna and saw how the locals, with their keen focus on quality and value, went about buying their fish, meat, bread, pasta, fruit and veg. We also visited some long established shops with their quirky offerings. Back home with our goodies, Carmelita took us through a process of cooking a three course meal, which also involved preparing and cooking fresh pasta. We prepared dishes which easily matched those of a fine dining restaurant. Carmelita knows her stuff, but wears her knowledge lightly. She pays great attention to detail and encourages her visitors to aspire to her high standards. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and a unique way to discover the charms of Bologna.

The two of us had a wonderful day with Carmelita. The tour of the market, the education about Bologna, and the general conversation were all superb. We actually cooked and prepared our own dinner and learned new techniques. It wasn't just pasta and tiramisu." Carmelita's one day market to table class truly exemplifies the slow food movement. From learning about the origins of ingredients and the importance of seasonality, to cooking seasonal dishes, this is one day experience was an eye opener for me, and made me appreciate the effort and dedication behind preparing Italian dishes. Highly recommended for food lovers who want to learn how to do it the proper way.Some tips: Do wear comfortable shoes and clothes as you would be walking and standing a lot. Do also set aside the whole day, as Carmelita will say she knows when you start cooking, but won't know when you end, as it is fully dependent on you :)

Carmelita's cooking class and market tour was among the most memorable travel experiences I have ever had. Carmelita is charming, knowledgeable, passionate and patient. She captivated my 2 kids (6y and 9y), who still speak of the class today! Thank you Carmelita - we hope to see you again one day!

We had a wonderful day with Carmelita. We did the balsamic vinegar class which involved shopping for (and tasting) ingredients in the market before going back to Carmelita’s lovely flat to cook a four course meal. The food was excellent and we had such a fun day. Carmelita is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to food (we’ll definitely be making our recipes again!) whilst also being a friendly, welcoming person to spend the day with. We wouldn’t hesitate to do another class next time we’re in Bologna!
