Caterina Schenetti | Tour Guide

We spent about 3 1/2 hours on a walking/eating/drinking tour of Modena with Caterina, and loved every minute! Caterina talked about the history of Modena, the layout of the historic center, and the region’s agriculture, while selecting various food items from local shops and the covered market for us to taste. The market was a highlight, and Caterina’s vast knowledge of the local produce, cheeses, pastas, and other specialty foods was impressive. The tour was well-paced, fun, and very informative - it was a great way to experience many of the things that make Modena so special!

Caterina is wonderful! Truly wonderful. I live in northern Italy and whenever I have guests come to visit, we book a tour with Caterina She always outdoes herself! She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things Modena and FOOD—wine (the most amazing Lambrusco!), Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, Parma ham, pasta, gnocco fritto! She is patient and kind and funny, and if we want to add on (and visit the Italian military academy, for example), she makes it happen. One time, we even needed to arrange for a covid test at a pharmacy—because two of my visitors were departing the following day—and it was during the time when a negative covid test was required to fly. Caterina made THAT happen, too! Truly, she’s wonderful!

I can't say much more about Caterina's food tour than what others have said... but it's still worth saying it was so much fun, super-informative, and everything she chose for us to eat was marvelous! We learned a tremendous amount about the local area too, which was great as it was our first full day in Modena.If you're serious about fresh local food made with pride for generations, then a tour with Caterina is a must. We very much appreciated as well that despite having an offer to take on a larger group, she honoured our original reservation for myself and my wife. Big tip of the cap, as that doesn't always happen!
