Smiling swindling in SacchiA Russian friend visited Argenteria Sacchi in Firenze a few days ago and bought a wrist watch for us with this amazing recommendation from the seller to implement a battery. The lady at the desk was roughly 60 years old and extremely welcoming and always smiling...After thanking our friend for this “original gift”, we went to a French jeweller who was amazed to discover that Sacchi in Italy was selling watches without battery: they opened the watch and checked that a battery was already in place but out of order in a rusty environment.Knowing that a battery would last at least 2 years and most of the time 5 years, our French jeweller was surprised to hear that this “brand new watch” with a used battery in a rusty environment bought in Argenteria Sacchi in Firenze was sold for 65 Euros.We had obviously to pay for the new battery 7 Euros, the total price for this second hand watch amounted to 72 Euros: what is the most appropriate word for this kind of trade? Theft, fraud, crookery, swindling?
