TREE OF LIFE SARDINIA CAMPING

As climbers camping with a tent we were looking for a nice basecamp for climbing in Ulassai. Ulassai has a lot of B&B's and a very nice climbing hostel but the nearest campsite on the moment is Tree of Life. The campsite is runned by the owners of the adjacent hotel Scala San Giorgio (Osini) and the reception of the campsite is located in the hotel. It's a small hotel with also a restaurant and an outside terrace. They have a traditional Italian menu with some pasta and meat dishes. It's possible to have a coffee or have breakfast as well.The campsite is located next to the hotel and there are around 20-30 pitches all in a nice forest so very shady. It's not possible to park your car next to the tent, but you can park it 50 M from the campsite.Facilities all very nice and quit new. Hot showers and also a big building with fire places so you can cook/bbq and sit dry when rainy.Very friendly staff and owner!There is no electricity on the campground.There is free wifi in the hotel/terrace.Nearest shops in Ulassai.Official road to the campsite runs from Osini: this is a nice road though quit steep with several hairpins. On the way you come across the Osini climbing area (though big rocks have fallen off these walls).However, the fastest and easiest way to reach Ulassai in 15 min (by car) is via a very good dirt road that runs a few 100 meters from Grotta su Marmuri to the right. They just did some road works to this road and you can easily drive here with a normal car.Tree of Life is definately a good basecamp for climbing in Ulassai. We really liked the campsite and would return, but with some small remarks:- We camped for 3 days and 2 days we were the only campers. Also, the hotel and reception closed after our first day but we didn't know this and weren't informed. We had to make an effort to reach someone to be able to pay for our stay.- If you are afraid of dogs or don't like the presence of dogs, don't go here. They have numerous dogs and they also walk around the campsite. They also produce quit some noise, since they bark a lot, especially when the owners are gone.- After 2 showers in a row, the hot water runs out, so we wonder how this will be when there is more than just 2 couples on the campsite at once. :)- Since we were just with the 2 of us, it wasn't really a problem, but we experienced that there was no cleaning of the facilities during our stay. In general the buildings where very clean, but you can't leave garbage (diapers) in a bin for days. Maybe they already closed the campsite while we were still camping there? :)Finally, also a very fair price: 8,- per person per night.

Personnel très aimable. Le restaurant/bar est très bien. Le camping est ombragé, très agréable et très silencieux, très bon point de chute pour les visites aux alentours (Ulassai, grotte su Marmuri...).

Nice camping, beautiful area, good food in the hotel.

Tak nevím... Dnes jsme dorazili na místo a nikdo nikde. Hosté žádní a personál také. Jen dva psi.

Un campeggio bellissimo, immerso nella natura, economico, luci soft anche la notte, personale gentilissimo. Cibo disponibile anche per vegetariani. ( e buono ).
