Rugadoro

I (obviously) wanted a real Venetian mask as a souvenir for my trip, but most of the shops I went to (and I did my research to make sure I would be buying only from local artists), even though the masks were beautiful and wonderfully crafted, I never found one that resonated enough with me enough that I actually wanted to take it home. Then I stepped into Rugadoro and had a VERY hard time limiting myself to JUST one mask (all that would fit in my luggage). I think the use of fabric and beads give such a personal and unique touch to these masks and really make them stand out, even amongst the other local artisans. I’m extremely happy with the mask I ended up choosing and if I ever return to Venice, Rugadoro will absolutely be my first stop.

During our walk through Venice we stopped at this little elegant shop and was in awe. What a truely lovely lady with the most unique masks in all of Italy. If your looking for a one of a kind Carnivalle mask, this is where you must come.

Most original masks in Venice. All handmade and each one more beautiful than the next. Very sweet owner, so patient as it took me forever to pick the one I wanted. I ended up with two.

A wonderful store with a lovely owner who makes exquisite masks. We bought a colourful cat mask, and two half masks, one with beautiful feathers in a lovely aquamarine and silver. The masks are made in the store with many different gorgeous fabrics with the details using murano glass, brocade and feathers. They are unique and so different form the usual Venetian hard masks. Difficult to choose as they are all so lovely. A special gift. Sara packed them all beautifully and they made the journey safely back to Canada. We shall order again for special occasions.

Handmade and individual masks. Not the mass production tourist souvenir trash as all over the place in Venezia. If you want masks made with love and expertise go there!!!

This place is incredible! The best masks in Venice. They are completely handmade. Including the base mask that is then hand decorated with fabrics, ribbons, some with feathers and pieces of classic Murano glass. My biggest problem was deciding which mask to purchase as they are all exquisite. This is a must see shop. My favorite after an entire day of wandering the island. And my most favorite. I've been to Venice 3xs. It's the only shop I will remember.

We happened upon this Venetian mask store on our first day in Venice but I assured my wife I had preselected three other well known stores that we should visit first. Three days later, after visiting the other stores and several others that we came across, we realized this first store was still our favorite. The masks are clearly made right in the store and the artist's whimsical creativity is well showcased. We bought a medium size piece that we will treasure as a reminder of our trip to Venice. Highly recommended.
