Scuola Europea di Varese

Ho iniziato la scuola europea nel 63. Avevo 5 anni. La mia seconda lingua era il francese che non ho mai dimenticato avendo avuto dei bravissimi insegnanti di madre lingua.

We have had two long and unfortunately frustrating experiences with the school. One of the experience is that we asked for early admission to primary school. Our child is born just after the deadline of the European School, but was totally ready to start. In the Italian system that would have been easy, as the decision for early admission lies 100% with the parents. In Germany there would be an evaluation involving the school, parents and an independent school psychologist. At the European school, I can't really tell, as there is no procedure public giving proper insider to the parents. We asked very early (in December) and tried to follow up regularly our request with the school management and teacher, however it was made clear to us that this is a school internal thing and that parents are not involved (not even heard, as we had never been granted a meeting during the 7 months process even after asking repeatedly). We received the NO" to our request in the last week of the school

Good teachers, however students have no education, and I think its the most negative point of the school, they are irrespectful, degrade classrooms, and are immature. Of course its mainly the parent's fault but the school also does nothing to stop them. The level of the school itself is good mostly for scientific subjects. Disappointed about English and L1 classes. The food given is unhealthy and tastes bad but i guess its the rules and they cant really do anything about it. I did not have a biology teacher for a whole year for the BAC because they couldn’t find one. I heard about some bad events that occurred in the past because of bullying or pressure. I think the school does a good job on it, there is a school psychologist, they talked about bullying a lot and I think they would listen to you if you had any problem you’d like to talk about.In the end it’s pretty disappointing compared to what we could expect from the school, and comparing to the school where I used to be, I’ve only been there for two years and surprisingly when i ask around, students who have been there since the very beginning are more happy about it, while new students like me have a more negative opinion.

I'm currently in this school, and it's absolutely awful. All the bathroom are always closed, and some teachers are just not good at their job

Amazing experience, loved Dr. Daly, Mr Cookdale, Claudione, Herr Sunti, Er dell'uomo, Andrew Evans, Simon Hiscock, Antonio Da conceicao Bravo, Giovanni Taborelli, Il professor Johnny Sins e tutta l'atmosfera. Bei 13 anni

I have been a student of this school for almost 12 years and am not pleased at all.-The staff are generally quite kind, specifically 1 or 2 teachers and the counsellors, however the directress is unkind, un-professional and lazy, any problems addressed to her are always dismissed and ignore as if they have never existed.-The school has a good reputation, however it really does not live up to its high standards from earlier years, 2000 and before. The quality of education, in my personal opinion and from what i have heard from adults who used to attend the school is declining, teachers are getting payed less and less and are not motivated to teach like they used to.-Furthermore the schools history has been stained by terribly sad and dark events that are inappropriate to mention here, the direction, yet again proving its incapacity has done little from preventing similar events from reoccurring.

My maiden name was Mittendorf when I started this school in 1962, then still situated in quartiere Belotti. I was 13, my brother Henk 3 years older was among the first to get the baccalaureat at this school in 1965, I followed in 1967. The school was small and new, with few pupils, we were 5 in the Dutch class, the teachers very engaged and the atmosphere was great. Learning 5 languages and being together with other nationals was a good start for life having learned to respect each other and I still profit from it. I was able to educate my own children, now far away but happy, in that way too. I'm sorry to read the negative comments, I have great memories.

La scuola mi piace molto ho frequentato li le elementari, le medie e superiori, apprezzo molto il fatto che hanno combinato medie e superiori in un unico blocco da 7 anni che trovo sia una soluzione eccellente che fa fare allo studente un anno in meno rispetto alla scuola italiana.
