LU Murano - Fabio Fornasier Glass Studio

They have a very nice tour with a very knowledge guide. They had multiple beautiful showrooms dedicated to the glass craft. Everything was fire sale but they were not pushy. The gift shop at the end was very nice and well stocked with items.

Lieu tellement sympathique avec un maestro Fabio Fornasier qui a le temps de nous faire voir la fabrication d’un magnifique vase en présence de sa fille Valentina qui nous explique tout au fur et à mesure de l’avancement…ensuite visite du studio où des pièces gigantesques et magnifiques nous sont présentées avec tellement de simplicité alors que ce gentil petit Monsieur pourrait s’enorgueillir..il n’en y est rien, sympathie, discrétion, tout comme sa fille Valentina..à recommander en dehors des grosses fabrications usuelles des vitrines de Venise à bon entendeur

Just amazing!!!

Incredibly beautiful works of art, all made in-house in traditional Murano techniques, some are secrets of the family (which of course were not disclosed to us :) ).Fabio, the glass master, specializes in a unique kind of air-blown chandeliers, and makes them in all sorts of varieties, colors, sizes, and finishings (including mirroring glass!).In addition, he creates other items, each one unique, some are made of tens or hundreds of individual hand-made parts (like glass petals of glass flowers) with intricate details, all heat-fused to create a single work of art.Examples: cups, carafes, ashtrays, vases, and decorative statues, all made of glass, and some of them made to look like other materials.Fabio's daughter gave us a tour in the overwhelming showroom, explained about all the beautiful artworks, and then in the workshop with the furnaces and trade tools, and in the post-processing rooms.We had an amazing time, were deeply impressed with the glass master's skill and the level of the art, and plan to return there on our next visit to venice.Take note that not every day there is glass blowing and production going on, so it's best to coordinate in advance if you want to see the artist in his work.
