Nel Cielo di Barga Bed & Breakfast

Nel Cielo has been beautifully rebuilt adhering to Tuscan traditions. It has cotto floors with underfloor heating, chestnut beams in the ceilings, and a fantastic shower room/WC. It is right in the heart of Barga so the cafes, restaurants, galleries, theatre, shops are all within walking distance. Julie was so helpful with her local knowledge and pointed us in the all the right directions. I thoroughly recommend both Nel Cielo and Barga.

A perfect spot, the room is at the top of the building with a perfect view at the village and mountains. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, they created a beautiful place in a beautiful town.

This review comes 6 months late for which we apologize to Julie, our host, since both she and her property deserve the to be noticed.The only hypothetical negative to any potential guest here relates only to those with limited mobility since there are a lot of steps in town that need to be negotiated on foot with baggage to arrive at the property, and again within the property to access the room up a staircase. Given its location, this is inevitable and unavoidable. For anyone else that can walk 200 meters and roll a suitcase this will not be a problem. That’s the end of potential negatives.The positives: The property is in the heart of the old town a few steps from excellent bars and restaurants. The room is stunning and rates as one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is a good size with adequate furnishing and storage for an extended stay, scrupulously clean and crisp and beautifully appointed with a heavenly comfortable bed. Although built to period stone-design, the property is a new-build over three levels. This guest accommodation is on the top floor accessed separately from Julie’s accommodation up the main staircase through the main entry door. This allows for a good degree of separation and privacy. Being new built, all fixtures and fittings were new, of high quality and worked perfectly. The shower was wonderful!. Since our visit was in November we fully appreciated the value of the under-floor heating. The bathroom was spotless, perfectly appointed and provisioned with clean fluffy towels/shampoos/soaps, etc. However, the real charm of the property is the balcony and view from the main room. It is hard to imagine a more dramatic and beautiful setting from which to sit and enjoy the town of Barga cascading away below and the layers of mountainous scenery opening out before you. It is one of the most beautiful locations imaginable.Julie was in incredibly gracious and helpful host. Discrete, yet available when requested for valuable and accurate local advice.In summary, Julie presents a first-class property in a first-class location as a top-notch host. 6 months after our stay, we still recall our visit as one of the highlights of our time on this trip to Italy.Alina & Andy
