I live primarily in the United States and own a villa in Sarteano where the grounds and some aspects of the villa were being maintained by Centro Servizi Ciolfi for 16 months. During this time, I was unable to travel from the U.S. to Italy to supervise or inspect their work, until I arrived in early December 2022. During the 16 months I relied on photos to assess the efforts and progress of this company. I now know that photos show only what they wish to disclose, not what is being neglected and misrepresented.Let me first say that for jobs where you are able to supervise and inspect their every activity, I must assume that Centro Servizi Ciolfi is capable of doing acceptable work or I expect them to be out of business.What I can say with confidence is that when they are trusted to do a good job at a fair price, and you are not able to watch over them, you will have serious problems and disappointments.Because I was not there during the 16 months, there are things that I know, and things which I suspect. I know they were the only company with keys to our property. I know that I paid their invoice submitted on December 6, 2022, and it was stated to be for work performed in November.That invoice had three line items.1) Ordinary maintenance of the grounds €12002) Extraordinary work to move air conditioner boxes from the house to an exterior building. €4003) Cleaning of the villa interior €200When I arrived at the villa, I KNOW:1) It was filthy inside the home. (see photos)2) Cleaning tools (vacuum, broom, mop, etc.) were left in a pile inside the front door. (see photo)3) The microwave was removed from the wall mount and was filthy inside. Why would they even discover a problem with it or take such action without notifying me. (see photos)4) All of my surveillance cameras were disconnected.5) The BBQ area outside the kitchen was left with charred wood and ashes, evidence that it was recently used.6) Yard tools (rakes, wheelbarrow, etc.) were left scattered around the property.7) One of the large boxes which I was charged €400 to move was left in front of the kitchen sink. My assessment of the effort to move ALL of the boxes was only 2 man hours. I was unaware that they were charging me €200 per hour for labor and not even finishing the job. (see photo)8) My water system (wells and cisterns) was tampered with, leaving the villa with 5-10% of water capacity.9) All of my firewood (several cubic meters) was removed from my property. I don’t know who stole it, but some of that wood was used in my BBQ. They never notified me that it was missing.10) Two large piles of wood, where trees had fallen months before, was left in place despite their responsibility to maintain the grounds.The list goes on, but I think I’ve provided enough proof.In their defense, when I complained about the lack of cleaning, they told me that the cleaning was done in August, not in November as stated when the invoice was submitted. Only one of their statements can be true.I can only guess why my BBQ was used, my microwave was moved, used and left dirty, and my cameras were disconnected. What do you think?
