Casa G. Firenze
This was our first experience with this type of hotel setup, but not our last. The rooms were beautiful and extremely quiet. The location was perfect. The elevator is small, but there is an elevator. We were told our room numbers in advance but had difficulty finding them at first and required the assistance of reception. We had 2 rooms and the access codes stopped working for both during our stay which required re-setting by reception. The breakfast room looked delightful, but we were never able to try it because service started after we had left each day. There were still light snacks and a coffee maker available in the afternoons.

Casa G. Firenze
We stayed at Casa G for four nights during our honeymoon in Italy. Most of it was amazing, but I do feel the need to caution other travelers about some issues we had and how they were handled.First, Casa G was definitely a splurge for us with a high price point during the summer months, but it was a special occasion and the location truly cannot be beat. Walking distance to everything without the crowds near the river, and a beautifully-designed space that prioritizes YOUR room and not only the common areas. The large bathrooms, ample closet storage space and high ceilings were highlights of our room. The issue is that the largest suite rooms (numbers 1, 2) face out over the street and are situated directly over a bank of community garbage dumpsters that get emptied very loudly between 10-11pm and 5-6 am for 8-10 minutes each time. The first night, we thought it just happened to be garbage collection day, but it happened again the second night. On the third, we took sleeping pills and weren’t bothered as much. Just before our fourth and final night, we realized the window was hung off-kilter and wasn’t closing fully, exposing most of the street sounds as if it were wide open. This was only visible from the side, so we hadn’t noticed before. Our final morning included the same rude awakening from the garbage trucks and other street noise, so we shared this feedback with the front desk staff before checkout. The first response was that we should have shared our concerns earlier in our stay because “they would have called the garbage workers and told them to pick up at a different time.” I do agree that we should have said something earlier, but where we live in the states, garbage collection is not a manipulatable service, and this never crossed our minds as an option. Second, the front desk staff is only physically present from 8am- 4pm. While we were given a number for emergencies, this didn’t seem like an emergency. Last, we would certainly have asked for the window to be looked at had we realized something was off, but didn’t see the gap until our last night. Finally, the hotel was completely booked during our stay and there were no other equivalent rooms to pack up and move into. The blessing and a curse of a boutique hotel with two suites, I suppose. The front desk staff was amazing in hearing our complaint, but when they reached out to the owner to make it right, his response was “If I didn’t know, I can’t do anything.” (This, despite the fact that someone mentioned the windows have sensors that alert them if they’re cracked open.) This perspective seems like a strangely hard line to draw for two issues that are the hotel’s responsibility AND have been documented before in others’ reviews. We’re disappointed in this response for over $600/night for bad sleep and felt like the burden of responsibility was inappropriately put back on us.While I’m not normally a review writer, I do read them religiously, and decided to pay it forward this time with a few pieces of advice:1) You should totally stay at Casa G for the location and the design.2) You should seek a non street-facing room or confirm that the hotel has guaranteed the garbage collection will not be happening during normal sleeping hours.3) If you have issues during your stay, don’t be shy about them. We don’t usually stay at nice properties like this and didn’t want to seem like high-maintenance Americans, but we should have spoken up.Happy travels!

Casa G. Firenze
Beautiful hotel with an amazing location. I can tell that the owners have very good taste in every sense. Our room was No. 7. Very spacious. Love the concept of being in a building on the first floor. If you are expecting a doorman or someone to help you with luggage, this is not the place for you.
