This was an amazing class! I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning traditional Italian cooking from an expert.I met up with Anna and two other students and she told us the history of Ortigia and Siracusa on our walk through some beautiful alleys to the market. When we arrived, she let us choose the main ingredients we wanted to work with and built out recipes from those staples. The other students and I chose zucchini leaves, fresh tuna, small fish fry and tomato extract. After a tour of the market, we walked to her brand-new beautiful cooking school. Anna taught us how to make two shapes of homemade pasta, two sauces (a tuna ragù and a vegetable sauce with the zucchini leaves), a fennel salad, small fish fry meatballs, and peach granita. She was an excellent teacher, very encouraging with helpful explanations of how we could adapt these recipes to our home countries and kitchens. At the end, we sat down to lunch—Anna lets you bring a guest, so we had all invited our husbands and had a lovely meal with interesting conversations. Thank you Anna for a wonderful day!!
