The bronzetto, resting on the mantlepiece of the country house, looked like a sacred object. Antòni had found it near the Giants’ tomb, underneath the moss , as he was used to tear the moss away and press it on his nose to smell its unmistakable scent of earth and incense. The little statue represented a woman with her son on her lap. Had it been a warrior, a slinger, an archer, a small boat everything would have been easier. Days went by, every night when Antòni got home he looked at it and for a moment he was taken by an arcane fear. Passing in front of a Nuraghe or a Giants’ tomb he wondered who were the mysterious people who created such beautiful works. On a stormy night, while the countryside was illuminated by the lightening gleams, he was woken by a loud thunder. The bronzetto illuminated by the gleam reminded him of the dream he had just made: he found himself onboard a small vessel in a stormy sea. Slim men with bull protomes on their heads were busy adjusting the sails. In the bow of the small ship there was also a protome made of wood and bronze. The men had a hilt dagger hanging from their necks, their chief was wearing a thick black woolen mantle, Antòni was wearing his mastrukka . His chief ordered him to open the chest which was at the stern and take a bronzetto out of it. He was ordered to take the small bronze ship and, with his hands stretched upwards, he threw it into the sea. The sea calmed down, the storm went away bellowing, the men were safe but exhausted. Antòni spoke the nuraghi language which had all the words ending by –gon, -ur or- ke. Also the others spoke the same language but in a harsher, more guttural way. The small ship was loaded with obsidian and copper and calmly proceeded at sea along the coastline of a lush green island. Thus Antòni woke up from the dream because of the storm: the dream, the small bronze statue, the nuraghi people, a lot of questions with no answers. A German man passed by. He asked Antòni some information about the exact position of some nuraghi. Antòni prepared a pot of boiled puff pastry bread while the foreigner was on his excursion. When he came back they ate and drank Golnova muristellu rubiu . The man said he was a nuraghi archeology scholar and by then he had been studying the ancient Nur civilization for decades.
