Villa Mangiacane

We were looking forward to staying at the villa for a wedding as the website looked beautiful. Unfortunately due to Italian quarantine rules we had to cancel our booking but we have been unable to receive any kind of confirmation of cancellation or refund as they have not responded to our requests. Sadly we will not be looking to rebook unless customer service improves dramatically.

4.5/5!!!Amazing place! Such a fun escape from the city buzz. Staff was incredible. Some of the best food we have had!The only reason it's not 5 stars is because of how many bugs were in our room. So many flies and a couple mosquitoes.All in all, we will 100% be back and tell everyone we know to go...just not during bug season.Thank you Villa Mangiacane ♥️

Twisters Travel Yoga RetreatAfter completing/leading our our 6 night yoga retreat at Villa Mangiacane all I can say is Wow!! The service was excellent from all staff on sight and in particular by the property manager Tania. She was always smiling and genuinely friendly, helped to organize activies/drivers in a quick and efficient fashion. We stayed in Villa Mazzei and all rooms were not only beautiful, but meticulously clean. Because of Covid we were the only ones on the property and were able to get a full 90 minute historical tour of Villa Machiavelli which is simply amazing (normally this would not be possible as other guests would be there). If at all possible try to get the loggia which offers a spectacular view (on a clear day) all the way to the Brunelleschi Duomo in Florence.The pool and grounds all gorgeus, and an amazing spa as well.The location is great, easy access to Florence by taxi or if you have your own car you can park very inexpensively outside the city and hop on a 5 minute tram ride to get to the historic district.Unlike some of the negative reviews previously written I have nothing but positive things to say. This place is a real gem.

Unfortunately I never got to stay at the Villa. It looks beautiful but due to Covid restrictions we had to cancel our trip (with many months notice). We understand how difficult this period has been for the hotel industry, but we know many other hotels have honoured refunds. Villa Mangicane has completely ignored any request for refund, even with the significant notice we gave. They’ve not even acknowledged a single message or email.They also accidentally copied me into an internal email which raised some serious concerns about the Villa and it’s cleanliness. I can only hope these have been addressed!

Really disappointing staff who have charged me without providing any details of what the amounts were for. At the time of check-out they agreed not to process any of the unknown amounts on the invoice as they too were confused, but in the days following they decided to charge my credit card without obtaining my consent. Now, when trying to get a response from them as to why I've now been charged, they simply won't reply. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a common way of their team behaving and is incredibly unprofessional.

Have been returning to Mangiacane for many years and every time I am baffled by the magic of this beautiful place. I love the style of their rooms and they have most comfortable beds ever. The are is so calm and relaxing, love the gardens and walks just outside the property. It is the best place to go for a really nice recharge!

Bellissima villa costruita dalla famiglia Machiavelli intorno al XV sec., attribuita a Michelangelo Buonarroti e sviluppata successivamente dal Vasari. Ora resort di lusso. Si vede un bellissimo panorama sul Chianti con in lontananza Firenze.

We booked a 3-night stay for the end of March. They emailed me less than two weeks before our trip asking me to cancel my reservation, because someone else was buying out the Villa. I then had to pay for a more expensive hotel in Florence (which turned out to be a blessing) but I wasted $1,000 on a rental car we no longer needed.

We were really looking forward to staying here and celebrating our friends wedding.Due to covid unfortunately this was unable to go ahead which was disappointing for all involved. In spite of the conditions outside our control the hotel has refused to refund us our money or at least acknowledge a credit of some sort. We understand it’s a challenging time but we expected more especially given our experience with other hotels in dealing with the same issue.

Sadly no option to put 0 stars.Similar to a couple of others in the thread below, Mangiacane have stopped responding to all emails regarding my potential rebooking after a wedding was pushed back due to COVID, I can only assume this is to allow them to keep the initial payment.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!I did however try to enquire about booking normally from a different email address and they responded within 1 hour, then when questioned they stopped responding again.Such a shame for such an amazing location!
