Barcola public beach
Great public beach in Trieste. Located near the beautiful pinewood.There are no sand here as well as other usual beach facilities. You just drop your towel in any place of the seafront, and enjoy sea views and pines nearby. There are special stairs to go into the sea (the sea is quite salty and deep here). Very popular place among locals in summertime.Located a bit outside of the city central part, but you can get here by bus #6 or #36 (10-minutes ride from the main train station). But in summer this direction is crowded. One summer evening I had to return to the city on foot (around 45 min of walk to the main train station) because couldn't catch a bus.
