Salvo was a wonderful tour guide who was able to bring to life the amazing experience of hiking on Etna with passion and his knowledge of volcanology, geology and the role Etna plays in the local culture. His tours are tailored to the skills/fitness and weather so whatever you choose will be perfect.As it was winter when we visited, we only went to approx 2,000m above sea level where we explored a number of craters from earlier eruptions. At the same time we could sea regular eruptions at the highest craters! We are looking forward to returning in the summer to go higher!We were picked up from Catania and part of our experience included stopping at a local market in one of the nearby villages who prepared our lunch and snacks and some drinks for the hike (included in the cost).Just do it!
