Gelato Museum Carpigiani
We visited and participated in a gelato making session and tour. While the tour doesn't take you through the actual factory, it did a great job of explaining the history of gelato through the years.Our kids enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it if you are in the Bologna area.

Sono andata con il mio ragazzo un sabato e ho fatto l'esperienza Gelatology. Il museo è davvero bello e il gelato è davvero qualcosa di squisito! Se devo trovare una pecca è stata la prenotazione. Infatti dopo che mi avevano proposto un'altra data e io avevo accettato non mi avevano più dato conferme e mi era diventato impossibile contattarli.

In questo museo oltre a scoprire la storia e le curiosità del gelato dall’antichità ai giorni nostri puoi provare a fare il gelato con le macchine della Carpigiani e il sorbetto con le tecniche che utilizzavano gli arabi nel medioevo.

This was a really small museum and the tour information is confusing. It seems you can’t just show up, you have to book a tour and wait for an email response. We didn’t know that and showed up late due to the bus schedule, one staffer was really understanding to us, another was not really and that really impacted my impression of this place.Gelato was tasty.Tour plus gelato lasted an hour tops. Not sure I would do again due to the time spent traveling to/from the location back to the City of Bologna.

Sono stata accolta con gentilezza e mi è stata raccontata con perizia la storia del gelato e dell'azienda Carpigiani. All'interno anche una università per formare mastri gelatai che esaltino l'incomparabile qualità del gelato artigianale. Unica piccola pecca: mi era stato detto che al termine avremmo assaggiato il gelato cosa che non è avvenuta. Per il resto molto interessante e un luogo diverso dai soliti attrattori culturali.

A very nice experience.We booked a Masterclass, which included the museum tour, making a sorbetto and preparing some ice cream using a Carpigiani machine.The tour was quite interesting, with all the machines and how the technology improved them.Then we had a short theoretical lesson about the differences between gelato, ice cream and sorbetto, quantities, ingredients, flavours.We had a little fun game where we had to guess the flavour of the gelato/sorbetto from the pictures or smells (which I found it surprising).At the end, we had the chance of have a competition between teams, making a sorbetto by hand using a whisk.Then, we made two gelatos (hazelnut and pistachio) using one of their machines and tasted it.Overall, I found it an 1.5 hour well spent.Definitely recommended.

Misled by the masterclaas tour which was too short and you learn nothing much practically. Its a waste of 100 euros imo.

È un museo unico al mondo. La storia del gelato, dei macchinari per produrlo, degli utensili per somministrarlo, i profili biografici degli uomini e donne, che nei secoli lo hanno prodotto. E …si può degustare un eccellente gelato nei locali adiacenti.

Prenotato due volte dal sito con esito ok.Visto che non ho ricevuto la conferma via e-mail la mattina prima di andare ho telefonato per sentirmi dire che i posti non ci sono e mi stavano mandando e- mail.Visto che è cosa per bambini mi sembra assurdo saperlo al ultimo momento.Sara‘ anche esperienza unica al mondo però gestione è scadente visto che siamo a Bologna

Good evening all gelato enthusiasts, I heavily encourage you to buy a ticket before coming to the museum, for us this was a tricky experience and not very groovy as once he departed and arrived at the museum we were met with the truth that reservations had to be made, therefor the trip was mostly unsuccessful, so you must buy a ticket to actually experience the factory.
