I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful war cemetery on Saturday 15th October 2022. 4 of us family members made a pilgrimage to visit the grave of a close family member who lost his life in WW2 on the 9th April 1945 in the large explosion at Bari docks involving the SS Charles Henderson. It was my 1st visit to any of the CWGC cemeteries, others in the party have been to YPRES, Vimy Ridge etc.We arrived on a warm sunny Saturday afternoon after a 10/15 minute taxi ride from Bari centre. Access was easy and the visitors book was well easily found, with pen attached. After signing, we made our way the the family member grave in plot 13. I conducted a small memorial service with some history that I had obtained regarding the death of Sapper Arthur Spence 2199556.We had travelled with a poppy wreath and crosses which we laid down. We also had some spare crosses which we laid at various graves around the cemetery. My Son, father in law and Brother in law then spent around a further 90mins walking amongst the various graves, reading headstones etc. It was humbling and moving to see so many Nationalities buried side by side, from British, South African, Canadian, Indian, Norwegian, Yugoslavian and even about 6 graves of soldiers from Iraq. The grounds were beautifully kept and various planting in every row varied, credit must go to the team members responsible, no litter or papers inside the grounds.I enclose some photos of our visit and would encourage everyone to visit.

It's a Beautiful cemetery and i want to give a very big thanks for the cwgc bari war cemetery crew who keep this place well maintained and clean. Today (03/09/2020) we went there to give our honor and to pay our respect to the three soldiers of this cemetery.one ww2 sri lankan soldier and 2 great war soldiers.the sri lankan soldier died on 30th July 1945 at age of 22 and his name is Welikumbure Berakaragedera William and he is from katugastota (kandy). It's a honor for me to pay my respect for this soldier as a sri lankan (i am also a sri lankan).and other two great war soldiers:one soldier from England and his name is George Spence who died on 16th October 1918 at age of 42 and the reason why i paid him my respect is one of his great war medal (Victory medal ) is in my possession and i came here to give my respect and to thanks him for the medal and also to give my promise to him, that i never ever going to sell this medal to anyone and i keep this medal with me in my whole life. The second soldier of great war that i paid respect is a soldier from newfoundland and it's a request from one of my facebook friend from canada and she ask from me to pay their respect to this soldier and send them some videos and pictures of his tomb stone.also they send to me a flag,a pebble (to keep on a top of the tomb stone) and the ode to newfoundland" to read infront of the tomb.i paid my respect to this soldier personally from my side and also behalf of the newfoundland people and for the newfoundland organization of the great war.the soldier's name is William Gilbert of Newfoundland Royal Naval Reserve who died on 07th october 1918.I am really happy about my work

Se amate meditare sulle tragedie umane, questo è senz'altro un sito da vedere ed in cui ammirare uno splendido e tranquillizzante manto di verde.
