Hotel Pomezia

Hotel Pomezia
Worst stay I’ve ever had in my history of traveling due to the staff. Yes, the hotel is old and outdated, there’s no real window and the bathroom smells mildewy but the location and price were good which is why I booked, knowing all the other flaws from previous reviews. All that is fine, I would’ve still given multiple stars in the end. What was absolutely appalling about my experience was the rudeness of the staff to the level I’ve never experienced before in any other hotel/hostel or country.First, when I came to the hotel, the older guy (I think his name may be Claudio? Not sure though) at the front never acknowledged me for over a min until I interrupted him and said hi. Later when answering his question which took multiple attempts due to him not understanding me, he threw up his hands in exasperation which I found quite rude. Whatever, I’m pretty easygoing. While I didn’t like his attitude, I just ignored it. I’m not here to cause any trouble and just want to enjoy my vacation. My relatives came a few hours later and found him pretty rude as well but just ignored it.The AC was barely working overnight and while it cooled the room slightly, it wasn’t 18C as indicated on the remote. I asked the next am about it just wanting to see if I did something wrong on my end. Immediately on stepping into my room, the guy said it was working because the room was cold to him. I kept trying to explain yes it’s slightly cooling the room but it’s certainly not 18C and still very warm and uncomfortable when sleeping but he kept interrupting me and started yelling that it was working. Anytime I tried to talk he would interrupt me and after a few min of this, I said “sir, this room is not 18C, can you please let me talk because you’re being pretty rude.” At that point he flipped out screaming “what do you want, there’s no other rooms to put you” and that I could leave, book another hotel room, or call the cops on him. I asked him multiple times at that point to leave the room because I’m a female and shaking at this point. He’s screaming his head off in the room with me and the door is closed. He wouldn’t leave and kept screaming for me to leave or call the cops. I never once said I wanted to leave and never once threatened anything. All I wanted to explain was that the AC clearly wasn’t working properly but he wouldn’t let me get any word in.The woman at the front desk never once intervened despite the room being right there and a crowd gathering because they could hear and finally another older gentleman employee passed by and grabbed him and took him out and told me later that while the screamer was a great guy (yea I highly doubt it), he had a bad temper. If so, you shouldn’t work in the hospitality industry if you act like this! Thank gosh for the other employee who talked the screamer down and came in and changed the filter. The AC seems to work now.I 100% would’ve left at that point but I have relatives in another room upstairs and it’s easier staying in one hotel for us all. I didn’t want to ruin their trip by having us leave. Just cough up a bit more money for literally anywhere else. Even the grossest hostel would’ve been better. Thank goodness I only had 2 nights booked here with my relatives. Unfortunately there’s likely no recourse for settling this other than leaving a bad review as any message I send to the hotel through my booking app would most likely be ignored but I’m so upset at how my trip to Rome started. Now I’m just hoping to warn others. The first Italian I spoke to was the taxi driver who tried to scam me, and this guy was the second Italian. What a lovely intro to this country!
